Purrs and Love

It's was a hectic weekend for me, so this week I've been taking a break (or at least trying to) from the laptop and social media.  Haven't been quite as successful as I wanted to be, but it has given me more time to strengthen my bond with Fluffy!

She gets pets and scratches every day now, and purrs all the time:D  The other night, while I was in the kitty room playing with her, Stitches and Danger, she even came up on the futon and laid next to me, with her head against my leg.

So my little feral mom is slowly becoming a loving house cat.  It's been a slow process...almost 6 months of patience and building trust.  She's still skittish, and when company is over (especially louder people) she hides away.  But I'm really impressed and happy with her progress, and it makes me really happy that I decided to keep her as well as the kittens!

Here's a picture I took earlier today, followed by a video of morning cuddles before breakfast:

Not the best picture, but she was purring like crazy and I was scratching her head and chin:)

And now for some cute kitten pictures!  They're getting SO big!

Yin's looking out the window as I try and capture her wide-eyed expression!

Stitches full of love

This lounger ain't big enough for the two of us anymore!

Maybe if we sleep like this...

Last, but not least, Danger playing!

Fluffy time!

Sorry it's been a while since my last post...I've been busy trying not to freak out about this big fundraising event I'm planning.  It's this Saturday!

In the meantime, Fluffy has started purring:)  In the morning and evening, during feeding time, she purrs now and rubs up against the walls, Stitches (he's tolerant of it) and EVEN my leg a couple times.  She purrs rather loudly...it's great. She's alot more comfortable being close to me, and the other night while I was watching stuff downstairs she even slept by my feet on the ottoman!

I really want to rub her belly!  Perhaps someday.  Amazing that she's become so comfortable near me:)

Soon after, Stitches decided he wanted to sleep on the ottoman too!  So Fluffy cuddled up:)

Later, Fluffy left and Danger hopped up to continue the Stitches cuddle-fest:)

I tried to take a video of Fluffy playing (which she does ALL the time!).  Of course she knew what I was doing so stopped:p  You can still get a good idea of her energy and comfort levels:

Ok well I must get back to trying not to have panic attacks about Saturday...if you're in Toronto and want to stop by for the art show or participate in the wine tasting, here's the details:

http://www.johnstonephotography.ca/

http://bit.ly/barcTO - at this site, you can scroll down to see pictures of some of the art that will be auctioned.

Also, admission is FREE.  The only definite cost is if you want to do the wine tasting, and you save $10 by purchasing tix in advance:)

Of course I encourage as many donations to the charity as possible, made by the purchase of art pieces, baked goods etc...

A Visual or two

Thought I'd post a couple of pictures from yesterday and today.  My boss from the doggy daycare (where I still "technically" work) dropped off this really great cat tree house that her uncle was getting rid of...for free!  The cats immediately loved it and everyone wanted to be on top of the roof, and Stitches won the rights, as you can see:

I've now placed the tree in the corner beside the two windows in the dining room area, so it's not right at the front entrance of the house anymore.  It's great!

And here's a few other cute photos that I just had to share:)

Stitches, Fluffy and Danger waiting for dinner:)  Yin's just out of camera, around the corner...

This was about an hour ago, cuddles whilst I was watching some tv downstairs.  Shortly after this, Danger jumped over to Stitches and they were playing for a bit:)

Leg cuddles!

Yin's adorable kissable sleepy cheeks!

All clear:)

Yin and Miss T Danger Paws were super awesome and very good patients for their vet appointment last Friday, I'm happy to report!  It was their first subway ride, and though a bit wide-eyed, they weren't freaked out at all.

They did very well for their exams and were deemed purrrfectly healthy by their new vet at my trusted clinic.  I brought in a stool sample (which Danger thoughtfully provided for me a couple hours before the appointment) to test for parasites, since I didn't do the "blanket deworming" that was recommended before.  They received their 2nd FVRCP vaccine, and didn't even flinch!  I was holding them and trying to distract them...seemed to work:)

The clinic called the next day to say that the sample came back negative (meaning no parasites) so YAY!  I'll probably get another one tested from Yin at their next visit, which is in a month, just to make sure.  Parasites have different life cycles and don't always shed eggs with each stool, so it's good to do a couple checks.  Next vet visit is their last FVRCP booster and their Rabies vaccine.  Then they are good for a year, where they will get their vaccine boosters...then every 3 years:)

Fluffy is doing very well, and last night while I was playing with the kittens and their tent, she came right up to play too!  Still won't let me pet her, but every step closer to me is progress:)

Danger has started copying Stitches more and more.  Stitches always greets us at the door when we come home, and now Danger is too!  Also, she and Stitches are my "wake up committee"...jumping on the bed and purring madly:)

Here's a few recent pictures:

Stitches is contemplating how to get up into the window without disturbing the family...

Danger cuddling a spider toy:)  She likes to sleep there sometimes...I think it's pretty awesome that they can still sleep where they have been since they were born.  Must be very comforting for them:)

This is how I found them JUST before I had to put them in the carrier to go to the vet.  It was very hard to disturb the cuteness!

Why yes, this toy owl makes an awesome pillow!

Danger loves to sleep belly up!

My Wake-Up Committee, hard at work purring and kneading my housecoat.

Afternoon naps:)

Growth Spurts!

So here's the cutest thing ever:

Danger discovers the terry-cloth bath robe, purring and kneading her giant paws:)

Also, they've grown so much over the last week or so!  They are 14 wks old already...so hard to believe.  I took a picture of Danger stretched out beside my foot as a comparison, as it wasn't too long ago she was the same size as my foot!

Yin using the toy as a pillow:)  She's a bit smaller than Danger but still growing like a weed!

They have their second vet appointment this Friday, for the vaccine booster of FVRCP.  I'm actually taking them to a different vet this time. Since I've adopted them and therefore paying without TCR discounts, I'm taking them to my vet, whom I worked with a few years ago.  I trust them more since I'm familiar with the clinic, how it's run, and their philosophies/protocols.  It's not that the TCR vet was bad...obviously they know what they are doing as Fluffy's surgery went well and she's fine...but it's just my own comfort level with the veterinarian and their methods.  Having worked for so long in the field, I'm very picky and somewhat jaded:p

Anyways, that's on Friday, so I'll be sure to update again afterwards to let you all know how it went.

This past weekend, while walking about putting up posters for my upcoming event ( details here:  http://www.johnstonephotography.ca/ ), we stopped in the Dollarama and picked up a few more kitty toys, including this little pop-up tent!  Wow do the kittens ever LOVE it.  They pounce on it to collapse it, then when they jump off and it pops back up, they play inside and around it.  One will be inside and the other will pounce on top...it's hilarious to watch them:)  I don't think it will last very long, I mean it was only $2, so I'll have to go get a back-up supply soon.  Here's a few pictures of them with the tent:

Miss Danger's inside the tent:p

Best $2 ever spent!  I also picked up one of those collapsible kitty tunnels with a toy at the end, also $2.  They've yet to really play in it, but I'm sure they will soon:)  I'll end with this pic of the gang (Yin's tail/body in the corner) waiting for dinner!  Fluffy is amazing and right up involved with everyone during "feeding times".  Also, I touched her back a couple of times without her hissing or running away.  She's acting like she wants to be pet, but in her mind she hasn't quite determined if it's okay or not.  Slow baby steps.  We're getting there...I can't wait to post a picture of her and me together.  Someday!

A couple pictures...

So last night I was giving out treats, and all four kitties (yes, even Fluffy) came a 'running!  My boyfriend took the picture and was trying to get them all in, so yes it's crooked.  But you can see them all enjoying treats!

Here's a couple more pictures I took today.  Fluffy has gotten so brave over the last couple of days...she's actually realizing that we're safe to be around:)  It makes me so happy to see her opening up and all the work I've done in socializing her is starting to show!

Fluffy, Stitches and Danger hangin' out this morning
Fluffy and Stitches on the stairs:)

So my morning routine includes sweeping up the mess of litter that they dig out of the box...It's on a blanket and I shake that out onto the floor then sweep it with my dustbin.  The kittens think it's a game and Danger has decided to sit in the middle of where I'm sweeping.  And you have to ask, why is Danger her middle name?  :P

Afternoon Nap
Today was also nail trimming day.  The kittens are easy to do when they are sleepy.  Stitches is always an issue, usually I can do one foot before he wriggles away and then I have to wait until he's super sleepy to try again.  I managed to get one front foot earlier, and the other foot tonight, so I'm satisfied for now.  Unfortunately where Fluffy is concerned, there's no way I can trim her nails at this point.  Hopefully soon she'll actually want some affection, to be pet...then will have to wait a long time (if ever) where she'll let me touch her feet.  It may just be a "vet appointment" job for her.

I'll end with this HILARIOUS photo I took this morning, and made my own little "meme" with it:

Good night all!
